Weekly Email 74: It's always a party in Papeari

Wow this week has been crazy!! Being with Sr Siri here in our secteur is so much fun, every day is a blast. We've also had plenty of awkward moments together this week, but it's ok it's cringy in the moment but we laugh about it later. My whole life is awkward so could we expect anything different?
This week's adventures:
- A roulotte owner told us we could eat free on Sunday so we went to pick up food which was awkward because people thought we were there buying food on Sunday...
- Our tire got sabotaged!! We left our car in the parking lot and when we came back something (probably someone) had stabbed it and it was super flat. Luckily the elders were awesome and replaced it for us!
- We had interviews with President this week and it was so awesome! I am so grateful for President and Sr Fox!
- I got to go over to Taravao this week to do a split with Sr Begay. It was my first time over there and it is so pretty wow! We taught someone who is literally Rumpelstiltskin from Once Upon A Time
- Saturday I went to go shower and in the shower was a big spider eating a big cockroach....luckily Sr Siri was awesome and got rid of that for me
- We had Conseil des Dirigeants this week, it was awesome as usual! It was weird to think that it was my last one!
- We had a dead rooster in our yard and Sr Siri had to pick it up with a rake and throw it over the fence. I've had to deal with way too many dead animals here hahaha
We had a baptism on Saturday, Tuesday there was a lot of family drama and things went crazy. But that's just the trials before baptism! Saturday was the baptism and it was so awesome! It was so great to see our ami's joy! Her parents had been baptized for 2 years already but it wasn't until now that she wanted to follow. Her older sister is getting baptized this Saturday and I am so excited for their family to get sealed in the temple!! This is what it's all about!
Saturday and Sunday we had two super cool lessons. One was with a 16 year old girl we met last week from contacting with her two friends. They've never met missionaries before and we taught the Restoration. It was so cool to see how much attention they payed, they were super absorbed in it. Sunday we also met and taught a 26 year old man who had never talked to the missionaries. He didn't even really know who Jesus Christ was! We taught him the Plan of Salvation and talked about Christ's Atonement. He was absorbing everything we taught, when we asked if he had questions he just said "C'est magnifique, c'est tout" (It's amazing, that's all). That statement was really simple but it really touched me! Also when I did my split in Taravao, one of the amis asked for a blessing. At the end she cried because she said she felt the Spirit really strong and that she hadn't felt warmth and light like that since she had last been taught by the missionaries 3 years ago. All these experiences made me realize how all the knowledge and things we take for granted are amazing and life changing principles. I've been lucky to grow up with the Gospel, and a lot of things we take for granted or are really used to hearing. Seeing people hear these things for the first time just shows how powerful it is. I feel so grateful to be able to teach these people and bring these truths to them. I love being a missionary, I never want it to end!

Caspita, questa settimana è stata pazzesca! Stare con Sorella Siri qui nel nostro settore è così divertente, ogni giorno è una pacchia. Abbiamo anche avuto diversi momenti strani questa settimana ma non fa niente, è un po' imbarazzante al momento ma poi ci ridiamo sopra. Tutta la mia vita è cosi maldestra perciò potremmo mai aspettarci qualcosa di diverso?
Le avventure di questa settimana:
-Il proprietario di una roulotte ambulante ci ha detto che potevamo mangiare gratis di domenica così siamo andate a prendere il cibo il che è stato imbarazzante perché la gente ha pensato che stessimo comprando del cibo di domenica...
-La nostra ruota è stata sabotata!! Abbiamo lasciato la macchina nel parcheggio e quando siamo tornate qualcosa (probabilmente qualcuno) l'aveva tagliata ed era completamente a terra. Fortunatamente gli anziani sono stati in gamba e l'hanno cambiata per noi!
-Abbiamo fatto le interviste con il presidente questa settimana ed è stato stupendo! Sono così grata per il presidente e Sorella Fox!
- Sono potuta andare a Taravao questa settimana per fare uno scambio con Sorella Begay. È stata la mia prima volta lì ed è così bello, caspita! Abbiamo insegnato a qualcuno che è proprio uguale a Rumpelstiltskin nella serie Once Upon A Time.
-Sabato sono andata a farmi la doccia e nella doccia c'era un grosso ragno che stava mangiando un grosso scarafaggio... fortunatamente Sorella Siri è stata in gamba e se ne è sbarazzata per me.
-Abbiamo fatto il Consiglio dei Dirigenti questa settimana, è stato fantastico come al solito! È stato strano pensare che era il mio ultimo!
-Abbiamo trovato un gallo morto nel nostro giardino e Sorella Siri ha dovuto prenderlo con una pala e buttarlo al di là del recinto. Ho dovuto avere a che fare con troppi animali morti qui ahahah
Abbiamo avuto un battesimo sabato, martedì ci sono stati problemi in famiglia e le cose erano fuori controllo. Ma queste sono solo le prove prima del battesimo! Sabato c'è stato il battesimo ed è stato meraviglioso! È stato così bello vedere la gioia negli occhi della nostra simpatizzante! I suoi genitori si sono battezzati 2 anni fa ma non è stato fino ad ora che anche lei ha voluto seguirli. Sua sorella maggiore si battezzerà questo sabato e sono molto emozionata che la loro famiglia si potrà suggellare al tempio!!! Questo è lo scopo di tutto!
Sabato e domenica abbiamo fatto due lezioni incredibili. Una con una ragazza di 16 anni che abbiamo incontrato la settimana scorsa quando abbiamo contattato due sue amiche. Non hanno mai incontrato i missionari prima d'ora e abbiamo insegnato la Restaurazione. È stato così forte vedere quanta attenzione prestassero, erano completamente assorbite dall'argomento. Domenica abbiamo anche incontrato ed insegnato ad un uomo di 26 anni che non aveva mai parlato con i missionari. Non sapeva neanche veramente chi fosse Gesù Cristo! Gli abbiamo insegnato il Piano di Salvezza e gli abbiamo parlato dell'Espiazione di Gesù Cristo. Stava ascoltando rapito tutto ciò che gli insegnavamo e quando gli abbiamo chiesto se avesse domande ha solo detto "C'est magnifique, c'est tout" (È magnifico, questo è tutto). Quell'affermazione era davvero semplice ma mi ha profondamente toccato! E poi quando ho fatto lo scambio a Taravao, una dei simpatizzanti ha chiesto una benedizione. Alla fine ha pianto perché ha detto che ha sentito lo Spirito molto forte e che non sentiva quel calore e quella luce da quando le avevano insegnato i missionari 3 anni fa. Tutte queste esperienze mi hanno fatto capire come tutta la conoscenza e le cose che diamo per scontato siano in realtà meravigliose e dei principi che cambiano la vita. Sono stata fortunata a crescere con il Vangelo e con un sacco di cose che diamo per scontato o che siamo abituati ad ascoltare. Vedere le persone ascoltare queste cose per la prima volta è una prova di quanto potere abbiano. Mi sento così grata di avere l'opportunità di insegnare a queste persone e di portare queste verità a loro. Amo essere una missionaria, non voglio che finisca mai!
