Weekly Email 65: Sister Spaghetti

This week was crazy, Sr Rimbert and I have been running around like chickens with our heads cut off And this upcoming week will be even crazier!
This past week in Mahina:
- I think it's so funny, people here are always so fascinated by my hair or eyes. They're like "wow your eyes are green!" or "your hair is so curly! Can I touch it?" hahah Also whenever people find out I'm Italian they like to shout out random things like "Spaghetti! Panzani! Pizza!". Like literally I was at the temple Saturday and a temple worker recognized me and just said "Spaghetti!" to greet me.
- Tahitians like to mix in random English words in with their French. For example "J'aime bien manger healthy" or "Je fais ma life" or "C'est good". Wednesday this kid randomly told me "No touch" hahah
- This week I put on leggings for the first time in almost 15 months and it was so weird. I was like "Why is this fabric so tight around my legs I feel trapped". Putting on jeans for the first time in 18 months in February will be fun...
- Last p-day we made cookies with Sr Fox (if you're jealous you should be). Except me and Sr Rimbert couldn't eat them because of our dessert fast!! It was so depressing. It was right there in front of us and we just had to watch everyone eat. I even scooped the dough onto the cookies sheet. It was in my hands!! So sad. It was kinda torture. But we stayed strong! Our fast is over Thursday hallelujah I can't wait!!
- Once Sr Rimbert and I were in the parking lot and this random guy comes out of no where and was like "Do you want sushi or sashimi?" and I was very confused. I was just like "what" so he repeated himself. Sometimes random members we don't know offer us food because they're nice so I wasn't sure if that was what was happening but Sr Rimbert dragged me away. It was just a random dude trying to hit on us I think. Or maybe he wanted to poison us? haha just kidding
- Sr Rimbert this week was talking about Carlos from Spongebob and I was like what the heck who is Carlos?? There's no Carlos! And that's how I found out that in the French version of Spongebob Squidward's name is Carlos. hahaha that is so weird. What are you French people doing.
- This week we went contacting in a rich neighborhood at the top of the mountain and found the house of Miss Tahiti 2017. Too bad she wasn't home!
- Sr Rimbert tried beef jerky for the first time in her life and was like "Why are we eating dog food". hahaha
- Saturday we went to the temple with Elvis!! That was his first time going in the temple! He did baptisms and confirmations. It was so awesome, he loved it! Going to the temple is so important! We try to go as soon as possible with our recent converts.
This week we saw so many little blessings and miracles! I know Heavenly Father is on our side, even with all the craziness, rush, stress and last minute things falling through. Sometimes life is craaazy but we have to keep our trust in the Lord! I know He has a plan! This has been my busiest transfer yet but I know Heavenly Father is helping us through.

Questa settimana è stata pazzesca, io e Sorella Rimbert abbiamo corso in lungo e largo come galline senza testa. E la settimana entrante sarà ancora più pazzesca!
La settimana scorsa a Mahina:
-Penso che sia così da ridere il fatto che la gente qui sia così affascinata dai miei capelli o dai miei occhi. Dicono sempre "Oh, i tuoi occhi sono così verdi!" oppure "I tuoi capelli sono così ricci! Posso toccarli?" ahahah. Poi ogni volta che scoprono che sono italiana si divertono a gridare cose a caso del tipo "Spaghetti! Panzani! Pizza!" Davvero, stavo al tempio sabato e un lavorante del tempio mi ha riconosciuta e ha detto solo "Spaghetti" per salutarmi.
-I taitiani amano mischiare parole inglesi con il loro francese in maniera del tutto arbitraria. Per esempio dicono "Mi piace molto mangiare healthy","Ho la mia life" o "È good". Mercoledì questo bambino mi ha detto del tutto inaspettatamente "No touch" ahahah
-Questa settimana ho indossato i leggings per la prima volta in 15 mesi ed è stato così strano. Mi sono detta "Perché questo tessuto è così stretto intorno alle mie gambe, mi sento intrappolata". Indossare i jeans per la prima volta dopo 18 mesi a febbraio sarà divertente...
-Lo scorso p-day abbiamo fatto i biscotti con Sorella Fox (se siete invidiosi fate bene ad esserlo). Eccetto che io e Sorella Rimbert non potevamo mangiarli per il nostro digiuno dei dolci!! Era così deprimente. Erano proprio di fronte a noi e potevamo solo guardare gli altri che li mangiavano. Li ho persino messi sul vassoio ancora crudi prima di infornarli. L'impasto era sulle mie mani!!! Era così triste. Una specie di tortura. Ma siamo state forti! Il nostro digiuno finisce giovedì, alleluia, non vedo l'ora!!
-Una volta io e Sorella Rimbert eravamo in un parcheggio e un ragazzo sconosciuto è sbucato da non so dove e mi fa "Vuoi i sushi o i sashimi?" ed io ero molto confusa. Gli ho detto "Cosa?" perché ripetesse. A volte alcuni membri che non conosciamo ci offrono del cibo perché sono gentili così non ero sicura se questo era quanto stesse succedendo ma Soeur Rimbert mi ha trascinato via. Era solo un tipo a caso che cercava di fare colpo su di noi, penso. O forse ci voleva avvelenare? ahah, scherzo.
-Sorella Rimbert questa settimana stava parlando di Carlos di Spongebob e io ero del tipo "Chi cavolo è Carlos??" Non c'è nessun Carlos! E così è come ho scoperto che nella versione francese di Spongebob il nome di Squiddy Tentacolo è Carlos. Ahahahah, è così strano. Che fate voi francesi!
-Questa settimana abbiamo contattato persone in un vicinato ricco in cima alla montagna e abbiamo trovato la casa di Miss Tahiti 2017. Peccato che non c'era!
-Sorella Rimbert ha provato a mangiare il Beef Jerky per la prima volta in vita sua e ha detto "Perché mangiamo il cibo dei cani?" Ahahahah
-Sabato siamo andate al tempio con Elvis!! Questa è stata la prima volta che andava al tempio! Ha fatto i battesimi e le confermazioni. È stato così meraviglioso, gli è piaciuto molto! Andare al tempio è così importante! Cerchiamo di andarci il più presto possibile con i nostri recenti convertiti.
Questa settimana abbiamo visto tante piccole benedizioni e miracoli! So che il Padre Celeste è dalla nostra parte, nonostante le cose pazzesche, la fretta, lo stress e le cose che vengono meno all'ultimo momento. A volte la vita è pazzesca ma dobbiamo mantenere la nostra fiducia nel Signore! So che lui ha un piano! Questo è stato il mio trasferimento più impegnativo finora ma so che il Padre Celeste ci aiuta.
