Weekly Email 44: Have You Ever Tried Spaghetti and Nutella?

Ia orana tatou!! So Elder Raveneau in my district really wanted to try Nutella and spaghetti so I said why not, it sounds weird so it will probably be funny. So we did! It wasn't as gross as I thought it would be, it kinda just tastes like crepe. Probably won't do it again but it made for a fun memory hahah Another good week! My favorite moment was for sure on Saturday!! Me and Sr Maitere had decided to put 6 people on stand by because they weren't progressing. I wasn't happy with having lessons every hour if it was with people who weren't serious about the lessons or willing to progress. It was kinda scary clearing out a lot of our day like that, but we had the faith Heavenly Father would lead us to the people who were ready. Saturday one of our lessons fell through so me and Sr Maitere set out talking to people. We said a prayer that God would lead us to the people who were ready for the Gospel and needed us two specifically. We went to visit an ami but she wasn't home so we started talking to her aunt. She had a lot of questions about what we do, and then asked about what we think about heaven and earth and why there are so many religions on the Earth today. We were happy to talk! She said "Wow, you're the first to have an answer to all my questions!". She told us she's always seen the missionaries but never wanted to talk to them until now and she said "I think it had to be you two". I got teary eyed when she said that! God answers prayers!!! Then we invited her to come to the Dumoulin family concert that night and she loved it! I am excited to continue with her!
This week we had Conseil des Dirigeants and it was so good!! (as always). We talked about reaching out in love. I made a goal to be more patient and loving with everyone, and to put myself in their shoes to understand them better. Christ loved everyone no matter what all the time, and we should do the same! Especially our amis, we need to be fully invested in their lives, and not just go for the lessons. They're not baptismal statistics, they're real people with real lives, feelings, and problems. But we are there to help them, every step, because we love them! We also watched a talk by Elder Jeffrey R. Holland that was really good called "The Path to Happiness" or something like that (Transcript here). We truly can be happy all the time! Even in the moments of thirst, hunger, fatigue, or discomfort. It's our choice! Missions aren't easy, life isn't easy, but you can be happy! It's not always easy to choose happiness but I know we will be better off if we do. Other news: - I hit my 10 month mark what! - Sr Maitere had a hot dog for the first time in her life on Friday! Ok I've been slacking on the funny moments because I used to put those every week in my emails, I have a lot that I've been meaning to share so I'll put those in next week! I love my secteur Fautaua 2 and I love Sr Maitere! And I love my mission! Have a good week everyone!

Allora Anziano Raveneau del mio distretto voleva proprio provare gli spaghetti con la Nutella così ho detto "Perché no, sembra strano e allora sarà probabilmente divertente". Così l'abbiamo fatto! Non era così disgustoso come pensavo che fosse, avevano quasi il sapore di una crepe. Probabilmente non lo farò di nuovo ma ha creato un ricordo divertente ahaha
Un'altra buona settimana! Il mio momento preferito è stato di sicuro sabato!! Io e Sorella Maitere avevamo deciso di sospendere i contatti con 6 persone perché non stavano progredendo. Non ero contenta di insegnare ogni ora se fosse stato con persone che non prendevano seriamente le lezioni o che non fossero interessati a progredire. È stato un po' spaventoso dover svuotare la nostra giornata così tanto, ma avevamo fede che il Padre Celeste ci avrebbe guidato alle persone che erano pronte. Sabato una delle nostre lezioni è venuta meno così io e Sorella Maitere abbiamo deciso di parlare con le persone. Abbiamo pregato che Dio ci guidasse da coloro che erano pronti per il Vangelo e che avevano bisogno proprio di noi due. Siamo andate a trovare una simpatizzante ma non stava a casa così ci siamo messe a parlare con sua zia. Aveva un sacco di domande su cosa facciamo e poi ci ha chiesto cosa pensavamo del cielo e della terra e del perché ci siano tante religioni sulla terra oggi. Eravamo felici di parlare! Ha detto "Oh, voi siete le prime ad avere una risposta a tutte le mie domande!". Ci ha detto che ha sempre visto i missionari ma che non ha mai voluto parlarci fino ad ora e ha detto "Penso che dovevate essere voi due". Mi sono venute le lacrime agli occhi quando ha detto così! Dio risponde alle preghiere!!! Poi l'abbiamo invitata al concerto della famiglia Dumoulin quella sera e l'è piaciuto un sacco! Sono emozionata di poter continuare con lei!
Questa settimana abbiamo avuto la Conferenza dei Capizona e delle STL ed è stata così bella!! (come sempre). Abbiamo parlato di come possiamo rivolgerci agli altri con amore. Mi sono prefissa di essere più paziente e amorevole con tutti e di immedesimarmi in loro per capirli meglio. Gesù Cristo ha amato sempre tutti a prescindere dalle circostanze e dovremmo fare lo stesso! Specialmente i nostri simpatizzanti, dovremmo essere coivolti appieno nelle loro vite, non andare semplicemente ad insegnare. Non sono statistche battesimali, sono persone vere con vite, sentimenti e problemi reali. Ma siamo lì per aiutarli, ad ogni passo, perché li amiamo! Abbiamo anche guardato il video di un discorso dell'Anziano Jeffrey R. Holland che era molto bello intitolato "Il sentiero che conduce alla felicità" o qualcosa di simile (Trascrizione qui). Davvero possiamo essere felici sempre! Anche nei momenti di sete, fame, fatica o sconforto. È la nostra scelta! Le missioni non sono facili, la vita non è facile, ma si può essere felici! Non è sempre facile scegliere la felicità ma so che ce la passeremo meglio se lo facciamo.
