Weekly Email 39: 300 pieces of toast
Hello everyone!! This past week has been SO GOOD. We have just had so many amazing experiences and I just feel so blessed to be here! I love feeling the Spirit so strong and of course the overwhelming love and joy that come from missionary work!
Also being a missionary in French Polynesia means you're spoiled rotten but I won't complain! A mami we met while grocery shopping said we're welcome to come eat at her house whenever we want, and that she has a house at the beach that we can stay in after the mission! We laughed but she said "I'm not kidding!". And she really was serious! Then before leaving she gave us all black pearls and tried to buy us ice cream hahaha the people here really do make you feel loved!! I am so grateful for them! It never ceases to amaze me how they treat strangers like family! While I was on my split with Soeur Fowers members kept offering us food throughout the day, it was nuts! So if I get fat here it's just because we're loved ;) I just love the people here so much!! What a blessing it is to be able to know them!
I keep running into missionaries and members that I know randomly here in Pape'ete, I love it! I've already seen 4 people from Huahine!! I saw one of my favorite members from Punaauia and they bought us 3 packets of 100 biscottes. So yeah that's how we got 300 pieces of toast hahaha
So since I'm STL I get to go on splits with the Sisters in the zone! Tuesday I went to the Fariipiti secteur with Soeur Bready! It was fun to be companions for the day again! Also she forgot that we were eating with an ami after our lesson so we had two lunches back to back (RIP my stomach). Wednesday Soeur Fowers came with me in my secteur, and we had so much fun!! I loved getting to know her better! Also we had to run to catch the bus in the pouring rain because it was about to leave, I'm sure everyone on the street thought that was hilarious!
Thursday I had one of my favorite experiences of my whole mission!! Soeur Gandon and I had a lesson at the temple with two of our amis. We had racked our brains trying to think of how to help them. We were so frustrated because it didn't seem like they were progressing or feeling the Spirit anymore. But Thursday night we just sat on a bench outside the temple and had our lesson facing it. The temple is so beautiful at night, all lit up and glowing! And it's so peaceful and calm at night! As soon as we got there I felt an immediate sense of peace. It was so deep, like it went straight into my soul. I remember once my aunt described the feeling at the temple as "being held in the arms of the Savior". It's so true!!! The Spirit was SO strong during that lesson, it was everything Soeur Gandon and I had hoped for. It was so special! We walked home that night on Cloud 9. I am so grateful for the temple!!!
Here we do a blitz each Saturday,which is when all the missionaries in our zone go to a sectuer with members to find new amis through contacting. We got 33 references from our blitz last week, and from that have been able to fix 10 lessons so far!!!! I am blown away by the people we have been able to find and by how ready they are for the Gospel. It is so amazing to see!!! Soeur Gandon said the blitz wasn't this succesful last time so I just feel so grateful to God for leading us to these people! I feel so blessed and cannot thank Him enough. I love being a missionary here in Fautaua 2, I hope I stay here a while!!
I wish I could describe all the special moments this week but that would take forever, so just know I loooooooove the mission! I never want it to end! God seriously does spoil us.
Have a great week everyone! Also my challenge for you: If you don't have a picture of Christ or the temple in your home/room, hang it up!!! It will bring a special spirit into your home. And as missionaries know, having the Spirit everyday is the best feeling :) :) :)

Ciao a tutti!! La settimana scorsa è stata COSÌ BELLA. Abbiamo avuto così tante esperienze incredibili e mi sento semplicemente così benedetta a stare qui! Amo sentire lo Spirito così forte ed anche l'amore travolgente e la gioia che provengono dal lavoro missionario!
Inoltre essere un missionario nella Polinesia Francese significa essere viziati a morte ma non mi lamento! Una mami che abbiamo incontrato mentre facevamo la spesa ci ha detto che eravamo le benvenute ad andare a mangiare a casa sua ogni volta che lo volevamo e che ha una casa al mare dove possiamo andare a stare dopo la missione! Abbiamo riso ma lei ha detto "Non sto scherzando!". Ed era davvero seria! Poi prima che ce ne andassimo ha dato a tutte delle perle nere e ha cercato di comprarci del gelato ahahah la gente qui davvero ti fa sentire amato!!! Sono così grata per loro! Non cessa mai di stupirmi quanto trattino gli sconosciuti come se fossero famiglia! Mentre facevo uno scambio con Sorella Fowers alcuni membri hanno continuato ad offrirci cibo per tutto il giorno, è stato pazzesco! Così se divento grassa qui è solo perché sono amata ;) Amo le persone qui tantissimo!! Che benedizione è quella di poterle conoscere!
M'imbatto sempre in missionari e membri che conosco qui a Pape'ete. Che bello! Ho già visto 4 persone di Huahine!! Ho visto uno dei miei membri preferiti di Punaauia e ci hanno comprato 3 pacchi di 100 biscotti. Così questo è come abbiamo avuto 300 toast ahahah
Poiché sono STL posso fare gli scambi con le Sorelle della zona! Martedì sono andata nel settore di Fariipiti con Sorella Bready! È stato divertente essere colleghe di nuovo per un giorno! Inoltre lei aveva dimenticato che dovevamo mangiare con un simpatizzante dopo la lezione così abbiamo fatto due pranzi uno di seguito all'altro (Eterno Riposo al mio stomaco). Mercoledì Sorella Fowers è venuta con me nel mio settore e ci siamo divertite tanto!!! Mi piace poterla conoscere meglio! Poi abbiamo dovuto correre a prendere il bus sotto la pioggia torrenziale perché stava per partire, sono sicura che tutti quelli che stavano per strada avranno pensato che fosse comico!
Giovedì ho fatto una delle mie esperienze preferite di tutta la missione!! Io e Sorella Gandon abbiamo fatto una lezione al tempio con due dei nostri simpatizzanti. Ci eravamo scervellate nel cercare di capire come potessimo aiutarli. Eravamo molto frustrate perché non sembrava che stessero progredendo o che sentissero più lo Spirito. Ma giovedì sera ci siamo solo seduti su una panchina fuori al tempio e abbiamo fatto la lezione rivolti verso di esso. Il tempio è così bello di notte, tutto illuminato e brillante! Ed infonde tanta pace e tanta calma di notte! Come siamo arrivate lì ho sentito immediatamente un senso di pace. Era così profondo, come se andasse direttamente alla mia anima. Mi ricordo che una volta mia zia ha descritto la sensazione che si prova al tempio come quella di "essere in braccio al Salvatore". È proprio vero!!! Lo Spirito è stato così forte durante quella lezione, era tutto quello che io e Sorella Gandon avevamo sperato. È stato così speciale! Siamo tornate a casa quella sera sentendoci al settimo cielo. Sono così grata per il tempio!!!
Qui facciamo un blitz ogni sabato, il che vuol dire che tutti i missionari della nostra zona vanno ad un settore con i membri per trovare nuovi simpatizzanti . Abbiamo trovato 33 riferimenti con il nostro blitz la scorsa settimana e da quello abbiamo potuto programmare 10 lezioni fino ad ora!!! Sono sbalordita dalle persone che abbiamo potuto trovare e di quanto siano pronte per il Vangelo. È così meraviglioso da vedersi!!! Sorella Gandon ha detto che il blitz non era stato così di successo l'ultima volta così mi sento davvero grata a Dio per averci condotto da queste persone! Mi sento così benedetta e non posso ringraziarLo abbastanza. Amo essere una missionaria qui a Fautaua 2, spero di rimanere qui a lungo!!
Vorrei poter descrivere tutti i momenti speciali di questa settimana ma ci vorrebbe un'eternità così sappiate solo che amoooooo la missione! Non voglio che finisca mai! Dio davvero ci vizia.
Auguro una bella settimana a tutti! E poi ho una sfida per voi: se non avete una foto del Cristo o del tempio a casa vostra o nella vostra stanza, appendetela!!! Porterà uno spirito speciale nella vostra casa. E come sanno i missionari, avere lo Spirito ogni giorno è la sensazione migliore :) :) :)
