Weekly Email 3: Long live District 17D!

I can't believe it's already p-day again! The days have been going by way too fast and this week flew by :(
This was my last week in District 17D :( even writing that out makes me depressed! Sister Atkins, Elder Jeppensen, and Elder West fly out to Barbados Sunday night, and Sister Sukhan leaves for Thailand Monday morning at 4 am. Everyone else flies out to their missions Wednesday but me and Elder Schill switch over to the Tahitian district on Monday I think.
I'M SO SAD!!! I'm going to miss everyone sooooo much! :"(
Tahiti: So last week at the temple one of the workers told me she served in Tahiti 42 years ago and was the only American Sister! Super cool! I also met a missionary during choir practice whose mom is from Tahiti and she still has family there! And I met another missionary from Tahiti, Elder Puura, who's friends with Elder Purahui! They're both from the Faaa stake.
So last week I discovered there's actually TWO Tahitian districts! One has six elders and the other one has eight. Yesterday me and Elder Schill joined the 6 person district for class since everyone else in our district had Infield Orientation. I was nervous to go but going there made me realize my French is better than I thought! It was good to speak it and to be able to practice. It's weird being the only sister though! I had to get a sticker for my nametags that says "Solo" since I'll be a solo sister. Saturday me and Elder Schill are going again just for the afternoon class because the teacher wants to start Tahitian! And apparently we have to teach a lesson in Tahitian on Tuesday already #SOS
Funny Moments:
This week was CRAZY! hahaha I can't share everything but here's some stuff
1. The lines in the cafeteria here are super long. So Friday is always pizza day from Papa John's and everyone was extra excited and the lines were extra long. Me and the sisters last Friday were in line for 30 minutes. When we finally get to the pizza they close our line and we have to go all the way to the back!!! So we wait another 30 minutes and then only have ten minutes to eat. We don't want to be late to class so I had to eat 3 slices in 5 minutes and then we ran to our classroom building and up all four flight of stairs. I thought I was going to puke! We got there right as our teacher was closing the door and Sister Sukhan yells NOOOO and we all dive in through the crack and land on the floor. But we made it!
2. I swear Sister Atkins gets about six packages a week! Her mom is always sending her stuff! The other day she got a HUGE package. Like big enough for a TV. Everyone stared as we walked by carrying it and I was laughing so hard I could barely walk. Inside was 24 San Pellegrino sodas and lots of snacks hahahaha
3. Our teacher Brother Cowley served in Poland, and me and Sister Atkins met some Polish elders. They taught us a phrase in ancient Polish that is pronounced "zoba chilly billy". Brother Cowley was the one to discover that phrase so in class I was like ZOBA CHILLY BILLY and he was like who taught you that?? It was so funny
4. Sister Sukhan is obsessed with oranges and she said that this YouTube talk show thing said that eating an orange like an apple in a cold shower is super relaxing. It sounds insane so of course we tried it! Me and all the other sisters did it hahaha I started choking on my orange and also some shower water in the process but I didn't die so it's all good. Also then Sister Sukhan threw some orange peels at me as a joke but she also accidentally threw it in some random girl's shower whoops hahahahaha
Wish I could write more of all the funny things we do but I can't so if you wanna know you can always write me personally and ask ;)
On a more serious note here's some spiritual stuff wahoo
One of my favorite things to do while teaching people is to testify of Jesus Christ. All of you should go watch the video Because of Him! Here it is!
Me and my trio showed it during lessons and it just brings the Spirit so fast. I love Jesus Christ and all that he did for us. He died for us so that we don't have to bear the burden of our sins! Because of Him the death has no sting and the grave has no victory. He lives and because He lives we will live again too! I know this is true! While talking to an investigator about Christ's atonement I brought up my dear friend Matthew who passed away almost a year ago. I couldn't keep the tears back as I did so but I know that because of Christ that Matthew still lives and that I will see him again someday! How happy I am to know this.
I know the Book of Mormon is true. It testifies of Christ and the words in that book are amazing. It holds a real power and if you read a little bit of it each day you will feel your life change! It has helped me so much and I love it!
In my district this week we talked about Moses. He did amazing things he didn't know he was capable of because God was with him! We can all do amazing things with God's help. He has a plan for us and I know we can do all things through Him.

Although my heart is breaking to say goodbye to District 17D and my wonderful teachers (who btw should totally get married and all the Sisters think so), I'm so grateful for the short two and a half weeks we had together! It has been life changing!

Non ci posso credere che sia di nuovo P-day! I giorni sono passati troppo velocemente e questa settimana è volata via :(
Questa è stata la mia ultima settimana nel distretto 17D:( Persino scriverlo mi fa sentire depressa! Sorella Atkins, Anziano Jeppensen ed Anziano West prendono il volo per le Barbados domenica sera e Sorella Sukhan partirà per la Tailandia lunedì mattina alle 4. Tutti gli altri hanno il volo per le loro rispettive missioni mercoledì ma io e Anziano Schill passeremo al distretto di Tahiti questo lunedì, credo.
SONO COSÌ TRISTE!!! Mi mancheranno tutti così tanto! :"(
Tahiti: Allora, al tempio una delle lavoranti mi ha detto che ha servito a Tahiti 42 anni fa e che era l'unica Sorella americana! Troppo forte! Ho anche incontrato un missionario durante le prove del coro che ha la madre di Tahiti e che ha ancora la famiglia lì! E ho incontrato un altro missionario di Tahiti, Anziano Puura, che è amico di Anziano Purahui! Vengono entrambi dal palo di Faaa.
Allora, la settimana scorsa ho scoperto che ci sono in realtà DUE distretti di Tahiti! Uno ha sei Anziani e l'altro ne ha otto. Ieri io e Anziano Schill ci siamo uniti al gruppo dei sei Anziani durante le classi perché tutti gli altri stavano facendo un addestramento relativo alle loro missioni. Ero molto nervosa al pensiero ma quando ci sono andata mi sono resa conto che il mio francese è meglio di quanto pensassi! È stata una buona cosa poter parlare e praticare. Ma è strano essere l'unica sorella! Ho dovuto farmi dare un adesivo per le mie targhette che dice "Solo" perché sono una sorella sola, senza collega. Sabato io e Anziano Schill ci andremo di nuovo solo per la classe del pomeriggio perché l'insegnante vuole iniziare il taitiano! E a quanto pare dobbiamo già insegnare una lezione martedì in taitiano. #AIUTO
Situazioni da ridere:
Questa settimana è stata PAZZESCA! ahahhah Non posso scrivere tutto ma ecco alcune cose
1. Le file alla mensa sono lunghissime. Allora venerdì è sempre giorno di pizza e tutti erano molto contenti e le file super lunghe. Io e le altre sorelle siamo state in fila per 30 minuti. Quando finalmente è arrivato il nostro turno hanno chiuso la nostra fila e siamo dovute andare a metterci in fila di nuovo da un'altra parte proprio indietro!!! Così abbiamo dovuto aspettare altri 30 minuti e poi avevamo solo 10 minuti per mangiare. Non volevamo arrivare tardi in classe così ho dovuto mangiare 3 fette di pizza in 5 minuti e poi correre verso l'edificio dove sta la nostra classe e salire le scale di corsa fino al quarto piano. Ho temuto di vomitare! Siamo arrivate proprio quando l'insegnante stava per chiudere la porta e Sorella Sukhan ha gridato NOOOO e tutte ci siamo tuffate attraverso la fessura della porta e siamo finite a terra. Ma ce l'abbiamo fatta!
2. Vi assicuro che Sorella Atkins riceve circa 6 pacchi alla settimana! Sua madre le manda cose in continuazione! L'altro giorno ha avuto un pacco ENORME. Del tipo grande abbastanza per un televisore. Tutti ci fissavano mentre passavamo con il pacco e io mi sono messa a ridere così forte da non poter neanche camminare. Dentro c'erano 24 lattine di limonata San Pellegrino e un sacco di snack ahahahah
3. Il nostro insegnante Fratello Cowley ha servito in Polonia e io e Sorella Atkins abbiamo incontrato alcuni Anziani assegnati alla Polonia. Ci hanno insegnato una frase in Polacco antico che si pronuncia "zoba chilly billy". Fratello Cowley è stato quello che ha scoperto quella frase e così in classe ho detto ZOBA CHILLY BILLY e lui mi ha detto "Chi ti ha insegnato quello??" Era così divertente
4. Sorella Atkins è ossessionata dalle arance e ha detto che c'è un talk show su YouTube dove si dice che mangiare un'arancia come una mela sotto la doccia fredda è molto rilassante. Sembra assurdo così ovviamente l'abbiamo provato! Io e tutte le altre sorelle lo abbiamo fatto ahahah. L'arancia e anche un po' dell'acqua della doccia mi sono andate di traverso ma non sono morta quindi va tutto bene. Inoltre Sorella Sukhan mi ha buttato delle bucce d'arancia addosso per scherzo ma le ha anche buttate involontariamente nella doccia di un'altra ragazza. Oops! ahahahahah
Vorrei poter scrivere di più sulle cose da ridere che facciamo ma non posso così se lo volete sapere potete sempre scrivermi direttamente e domandare ;)
Parlando seriamente ora ecco alcune cose spirituali.
Una delle cose da me preferite quando insegno alle persone è testimoniare di Gesù Cristo. Tutti voi dovreste guardare il video A Causa Sua! Eccolo qui!
Io e il mio trio l'abbiamo mostrato durante le lezioni e porta lo Spirito così velocemente. Amo Gesù Cristo e tutto quello che ha fatto per noi. È morto per noi così che non dobbiamo sopportare il peso dei nostri peccati! A causa sua la morte non ha effetto e la tomba non ha vittoria.Egli vive e poiché egli vive anche noi vivremo di nuovo! So che questo è vero! Mentre parlavo con un simpatizzante dell'Espiazione di Cristo ho citato il mio caro amico Matthew che è morto quasi un anno fa. Non ho potuto trattenere le lacrime ma so che grazie a Gesù Cristo Matthew vive ancora e che lo rivedrò un giorno! Quanto sono felice di sapere questo!
So che il Libro di Mormon è vero. Testimonia di Gesù Cristo e le parole in quel libro sono meravigliose. Ha un potere reale e se lo leggete un po' ogni giorno sentirete la vostra vita cambiare! Mi ha aiutato tanto e lo amo!
Nel mio distretto questa settimana abbiamo parlato di Mosè. Ha fatto delle cose incredibili di cui non sapeva essere capace perché Dio era con lui! Tutti possiamo fare delle cose incredibili con l'aiuto di Dio! Egli ha un piano per noi e so che possiamo fare qualsiasi cosa tramite Lui.
Scusate se questo email è così lungo! Questa è solo una piccolissima parte delle cose che speravo di poter scrivere!
Sebbene il mio cuore si stia spezzando al pensiero che dovrò dire addio al Distretto 17D e ai miei meravigliosi insegnanti (che a proposito dovrebbero assolutamente sposarsi e tutte le Sorelle lo pensano), sono molto grata per le brevi due settimane e mezzo che abbiamo trascorso insieme! Mi hanno cambiato la vita!
Amo essere una missionaria!
