Weekly Email 70: I Got the Dengue?
Ia orana tatou! If it wasn't a crazy week it wouldn't be normal!
This past week in MAHINA:
- Sr Rimbert told me when I put on my bike helmet I look like Toad from Mario Kart. Sad because she's not wrong.
- Last p day we played futsal and I realized I wasn't as bad as I thought! - This week I did a split with Sr Semerau and it was so awesome!! It's nice having a New England buddy. Someone asked us if we were Russian hahah and then another lady asked if I was from the Easter Islands. I had never gotten that before!
- Also someone asked me this week if missionaries have the power to curse people...never thought about that but it doesn't seem very Christ like
- Sr Yezli has this thing called an epilateur. She used it on me and Sr Fegter and can I just say I have never been in so much pain in my whole life!!!!!!!!!!
- This week we had Zone Conference! We talked a lot about Christ's Atonement and it was really awesome. They asked us the questions "Who is Jesus Christ for me? What does his Atonement mean for me? How can I better serve like Christ?". I think those are good questions for everyone to think about.
- Wednesday was Sr Rimbert's birthday! She told me every year her mom buys her chocolate eclaires and gives them to her when she wakes up. Well shout out to the Havens couple for helping me arrange that surprise! The Havens got me some eclaires which I managed to hide from Sr Rimbert and give her when she woke up. She was so touched she cried so mission accomplished ;)
- This week we kept doing stuff for Light the World and it was so awesome!!! Service really is the best. I hope you're all doing it too!
- Friday I had a super high fever. People thought I was sunburned and I was like nope that's just my fever..I had a headache too and my eyes felt super swollen. Saturday I still had a fever so we went to the doctor and he told me he thought it might be the beginning of the dengue! Dengue is a mosquito borne illness. I always joked about getting it but never actually thought I would! Apparently you can lose like 20 pounds in 2 weeks but you're in a lot of pain...Luckily my fever went away by Saturday night and I feel a lot better. I recovered super quickly which was probably thanks to the blessing I got. But I still have to take my medicine which is SUPER gross wow. And today I had to get a blood test so they can see if I had the dengue or not. Never in my 20 years of life had I gotten blood taken out of my arm. I totally was a baby and almost passed out but pas grave! It was frustrating for me because a lot of things fell through this week. We're losing our amis one by one and all our efforts to help the secteur and find amis aren't really working. So I was really frustrated when I got sick because we lost precious time, and I'm usually never sick! Things keep happening and it's like we're being kicked when we're already down. I think the Lord is just testing us but He is REALLY testing us. But we refuse to get discouraged!! All we can do is keep going. Giving up is not an option!

Ia orana tatou! Se non fosse una settimana pazzesca non sarebbe normale!
Questa settimana passata a MAHINA:
-Sorella Rimbert mi ha detto che quando metto il mio casco della bicicletta assomiglio a Toad di Mario Kart. Triste perché non ha sbagliato.
-Lo scorso pday abbiamo giocato a futsal e mi sono accorta che non sono così male come credevo!
- Questa settimana ho fatto uno scambio con Sorella Semerau ed è stato così fantastico!! È bello avere una compagna del New England. Qualcuno ci ha chiesto se fossimo russe ahahah e poi un'altra signora ha chiesto se io venissi dalle Isole di Pasqua. Non me lo aveva chiesto nessuno finora!
-E poi qualcuno mi ha chiesto questa settimana se i missionari hanno il poter di maledire le persone...non ci avevo mai pensato ma non mi pare molto cristiano
-Sorella Yezli ha questa cosa che si chiama depilatore. L'ha usata su di me e su Sorella Fegter e posso solo dire che non ho sentito mai così tanto dolore in vita mia!!!!!!!!
- Questa settimana abbiamo fatto la Conferenza di Zona! Abbiamo parlato molto dell'Espiazione di Cristo ed è stata davvero bella. Ci hanno fatto queste domande "Chi è Gesù Cristo per me? Che significato ha per me la sua Espiazione? Come posso servire meglio come Gesù Cristo?". Penso che queste siano buone domande a cui tutti possono rispondere.
-Mercoledì è stato il compleanno di Sorella Rimbert! Mi ha detto che ogni anno sua madre le compra gli eclairs (bignè) al cioccolato e glieli dà quando si sveglia. Allora urrà per Anziano e Sorella Havens per avermi aiutato ad organizzare questa sorpresa! Gli Havens mi hanno procurato alcuni eclairs che ho fatto in modo di nascondere a Sorella Rimbert e di darle quando si è svegliata. Si è emozionata così tanto che si è messa a piangere, allora missione compiuta!
-Questa settimana abbiamo continuato con il programma Sii Una Luce ed è stato bellissimo!!! Servire è davvero la cosa più bella. Spero che lo stiate facendo anche tutti voi!
-Venerdì ho avuto la febbre altissima. La gente credeva che avessi preso un'insolazione e io ho detto no, che era solo la mia febbre... avevo anche mal di testa e gli occhi molto gonfi. Sabato avevo ancora la febbre così siamo andate dal dottore e mi ha detto che poteva essere l'inizio della dengue! La dengue è una malattia procurata dalle punture di zanzara. Ho sempre scherzato sul fatto che un giorno l'avrei presa ma non ho mai pensato che sarebbe successo veramente! A quanto pare si possono perdere anche 10 chili in 2 settimane ma provoca molta sofferenza... Fortunatamente la febbre è passata entro sabato sera e mi sento molto meglio. Mi sono ripresa velocissimamente il che è stato probabilmente grazie alla benedizione che ho ricevuto. Ma devo ancora prendere le medicine che sono SUPER disgustose. E oggi ho dovuto fare un prelievo di sangue così possono stabilire se sia dengue o no. Non avevo mai fatto un prelievo di sangue nei 20 anni della mia vita. Mi sono sentita proprio come una bambina e sono a momenti svenuta ma non fa niente! È stato frustrante per me perché un sacco di cose sono venute meno questa settimana. Stiamo perdendo i nostri simpatizzanti uno ad uno e tutti i nostri sforzi per aiutare il settore e trovare altri simpatizzanti non stanno proprio funzionando. Allora ero davvero seccata quando mi sono ammalata perché abbiamo perso del tempo prezioso e io non mi ammalo mai! Le cose continuano ad accadere ed è stato come ricevere un calcio quando si è già abbattuti. Penso che il Signore ci stia mettendo alla prova ma ci sta DAVVERO mettendo alla prova. Ma ci rifiutiamo di sentirci scoraggiate!!! Tutto ciò che facciamo è andare avanti. Mollare non è un'opzione!
